Penrith City Council is planning a series of events across the City’s two biggest centres after securing significant investment from the NSW Government.
Over the last two years Council has supported local business through challenging operating conditions with a range of initiatives. These include removing fees for outdoor dining, establishing the Penrith Proud campaign to promote buying locally, as well as supporting COVID safe events and activities when possible.
Now this support will extend to strategic activation programming in Penrith and St Marys designed to increase foot traffic, support local business patronage, and contribute to arts and cultural outcomes.
Council will deliver another Penrith Producers event in Penrith City Centre thanks to the funding provided by the Summer Nights Program by the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (DPIE). Penrith Producers showcases our City's small producers and talented local creatives through live community events.
The goals of the Summer Nights Fund include activating the night-time economy and promoting visitation to main high streets, both of which align closely with the highly successful Penrith Producers events.
Council is also developing further events in St Marys Town Centre and Penrith City Centre with the support of funding through DPIE’s Festival of Place Open Streets program. The program seeks to re-energise streets by creating a sense of excitement and discovery.
Council will work closely with the St Marys Town Centre Corporation and Penrith CBD Corporation on the delivery of the Open Streets program and be engaging with local businesses to ensure they can maximise the benefits of the activation program and the anticipated increase in foot traffic.
Further announcements will be made in future with event details.
