Penrith is undergoing a once-in a generation change to become a vibrant, world-class city with quality amenity, connected to a diverse range of opportunities for employment, leisure and lifestyle. Penrith City Council is driving this change by delivering key city-shaping projects to revitalise our city and strengthen our position as an economic and employment hub within Western Sydney.

Here you will find a snapshot of the exciting Council-led projects underway across our city.

Indoor Multi-Sports Arena

Penrith City Council is transforming an undeveloped site in Claremont Meadows into a $106 million indoor multi-sports arena.

Gipps Street Recreation Precinct

Gipps Street Recreation Precinct is a 32-hectare sport and recreation facility in Claremont Meadows with sports fields, playspaces, youth zone, courts, and much more.

Regatta Park

A $24-million upgrade is set to transform Regatta Park at the Nepean River into the new focal point for nature, leisure and recreation and further strengthen Penrith’s position as Western Sydney’s most liveable city.

Penrith City Park

Penrith City Council has transformed the Penrith City Centre with the delivery of a new City Park. At approximately 7,000sqm, City Park is a thriving green space in a prime location on the corner of Henry Street and Station Streets, Penrith.

St Marys Central Park

Central Park St Marys will build an important connection between Queen Street, Lang and Kokoda Parks, Ripples and the shopping centre, and will help to stimulate both the day and night-time local economies.

Major Road Upgrades

The once in a generation change that Penrith is undergoing to become a vibrant, world class city also includes projects to upgrade some of our major roads.

Kingswood Commuter Car Park

The Kingswood Commuter Car Park project will no longer receive federal funding, which was essential for the continuation of the project.

Erskine Park Urban Reinvestment

Erskine Park Urban Reinvestment is an innovative project by Penrith City Council to revitalise public spaces and deliver a new residential offering to the suburb.

Police Cottage

The historic Police Cottage at Emu Plains has been transformed into a vibrant dining destination, following an adaptive reuse of the site into a cafe and restaurant, to enhance our connection to the Nepean River.

131 Henry

Penrith City Council is transforming the former Council Chambers at 129-133 Henry Street into a new commercial building known as 131 Henry Street. 

158-164 Old Bathurst Road

Penrith City Council has sold 158-164 Old Bathurst Road, Emu Plains to Akura and its capital partners (trading as Emu Plains Developments Pty Ltd), who will deliver Council’s vision to boost local employment with an industrial subdivision on the site.

The Joan Café

Penrith City Council helped support our arts community by delivering an upgrade of the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre (The Joan), one of our most praised and popular creative hubs in Penrith.

Soper Place

At Council's Ordinary Meeting on Monday, 29 May 2023, Council resolved not to pursue the delivery of the Soper Place Revitalisation project at this time due to the difference in market conditions from when the project commenced a number of years ago.
