Penrith City Council is delivering key projects to support the greening of our City. These projects are funded through the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program ($5.06 million).
Nursery Upgrade
Council’s Nursery grows thousands of plants each year to support programs and projects across the Local Government Area. The Nursery is also responsible for supplying soil, mulch, and landscape supplies for Council needs.
Council’s Nursery will receive an upgrade which will significantly improve its capacity to produce the volume and quality of plants needed to support Council’s environmental programs as Penrith continues to grow.
The upgrade will include:
- site infrastructure improvements to meet Nursery Industry Accreditation Scheme Australia (NIASA) standards.
- a 280% increase to the growing area to increase plant production capacity.
- improvements to the on-site waste water management system.
Upgrading the Nursery will also allow Council to expand its Bushland Management Program with additional restoration across critical Cumberland Plain Woodland sites, more events, workshops, and resources.
Bushland Surveillance Network
A new surveillance network will be installed in the Local Government Area to reduce illegal dumping and damage to key open spaces critical to Penrith’s natural environment.
