Penrith businesses explore aerotropolis opportunities

The business community explored the vision for the aerotropolis at the Penrith Valley Chamber of Commerce Lights On Penrith event on Friday 17 June.

Penrith will be the only city connected to the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport by road and rail from day-one of operation. But what does this mean for our city, your business and those looking to invest in Penrith?

These are the questions that the aerotropolis luncheon sought to explore.

This Lights on Penrith event offered a two-part experience. The full day included a morning session at the Western Sydney International Experience Centre, followed by lunch at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club during which participants heard more about the opportunities for local businesses and the Western Sydney region.

Mayor of Penrith, Tricia Hitchen, was among the event’s speakers, and she spoke to the range of opportunities that the airport provides the people and businesses of Penrith.

“Penrith is undergoing a once-in a generation change to become a vibrant, world-class city with quality amenity, connected to a diverse range of opportunities for employment, leisure and lifestyle.”

“Penrith City Council is driving this change by delivering key city-shaping projects to revitalise our city and strengthen our position as an economic and employment hub within Western Sydney.” Cr Hitchen said.

Other speakers at the event included Anne Skewes - Head, Aerotropolis Development at Western Parkland City Authority, and The Hon Stuart Ayres MP, Member for Penrith, Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Tourism and Sport and Minister for Western Sydney.
