A major new industrial estate in Kemps Creek will bring 1800 jobs to Penrith.
Goodman Group (Goodman) and Brickworks recently received DA approval from the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment to start development of its 89-hectare Oakdale West Industrial Estate.
The $470 million development is the latest to be approved in the wider $3 billion Oakdale Industrial Estate and the newest approved in the Western Sydney Employment Area.
Member for Penrith, Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said the project would house 22 new businesses and was a game-changer for the community.
“This is yet another important step in building a strong Western Sydney for the future, where people can expect to find quality jobs closer to where they live in a city which will be the economic powerhouse of the State,” Mr Ayres said.
The Oakdale West development is expected to create 1,000 construction jobs and 1,845 operational jobs close to homes, transport and the future Airport.
Goodman Australia General Manager Jason Little said, consumer push for faster delivery continued to drive demand for industrial property.
“Oakdale West is well-equipped to facilitate this demand given its excellent connectivity to key motorways and proximity to the Western Sydney International Airport,” Mr Little said. “The site provides efficient access to 4.5 million consumers, within a one-hour drivetime.”
Oakdale West will form part of Goodman’s flagship Oakdale Industrial Estate, a joint venture between Goodman and Brickworks. The fully completed Oakdale Central and partly-developed Oakdale South precincts have attracted customers from the e-commerce, third party logistics, retail, pharmaceutical and automotive industries.
Oakdale West will be delivered over 5 stages. Goodman Brickworks has committed $95 million of infrastructure investment to the first stage of the development, including a new two-lane road to connect the estate to Lenore Drive and provide easy access to the nearby M7 and M4 motorways.
The new Industrial Estate will fall in the Western Sydney Employment Area. This precinct is already home to major companies including Toyota, Costco and DHL and is expected to provide more than 200,000 additional jobs over the next 20 years.
