Think Bold Kingswood Place Plan

Kingswood is a place with tremendous potential to benefit from the overall growth of the region; it is a growing specialised health and education centre; it has convenient access to the train line; and is identified as a Key Centre in Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement.

The Think Bold Kingswood Place Plan prepares us for the change that is coming and sets a clear direction and firm action for improving the quality of Kingswood's urban landscapes and strengthening the local community to play an active role in their own future. 

Council recognised the need for the ongoing collaboration over more prescriptive and function-based types of strategic planning in Kingswood, which is why it was chosen to plan with rather than plan for the community. This is the essence of place planning and place making; putting the community's vision and aspirations at the centre of an adaptive change process. This document sets a visionary approach for integrating planning for the area, motivating change and bringing everyone on the same journey. 

Earlier this month Council asked for ideas from the community and local stakeholders on how to create a better Kingswood. The online survey generated more than 100 responses and over 30 ideas for improved liveability, environment and sustainability. This community engagement feedback will now be considered in the development of the Place Plan which is expected to be finalised by the end of 2020.
