Fresh support for NSW businesses

Two new grants have been announced to help businesses reopen after COVID-19 shutdowns.

The NSW Government’s Small Business Recovery Grant will provide eligible businesses with up to $3,000 to assist in restarting their operations. The grants can be used towards costs associated with reopening or upscaling their operations including marketing, staff training, or fit-out changes.

The grant is targeted to businesses with fewer than 20 full time staff that have experienced a decline in turnover of at least 30% from March to July 2020. Applications open on 1 July and will close on 16 August. More information will be available on the Service NSW website closer to the launch.

The Exporter Assistance Grant is part of a $13 million package from the NSW Government to boost exports, particularly from Regional NSW.

Deputy Premier John Barilaro said the package was designed to reinvigorate export industries impacted by COVID-19, "The package will provide more local trade advisors, an increased presence in key Asian markets, a new e-commerce program to develop alternative channels to market and a $10,000 grant scheme."

The $10,000 Export Assistance Grant, provided on a matched funding basis, will be available for up to 1,000 export ready or export capable NSW businesses. The grants are intended to help them access new markets or re-enter old ones where business has ceased.
