Penrith’s local food industry was on show this month at the recent Penrith Producers event.
Held in Triangle Park, the free curated event supports local businesses by showcasing the local food industry and supporting the development of local talent. The event also activates the City Centre which stimulates Penrith’s night-time economy.
Local craft breweries Rusty Penny and Casey’s are among the businesses who took part in the event, as well as food producers Pasticceria Dolce Mia, MJAYS Café, Cana Farm, and G-Free Donuts. They were joined by musicians Mt. Trio.
This year’s event was supported by a grant received through the Festival of Place summer fund. The NSW Government program aims to boost foot traffic and dwell time in local centres during the day and night, to help revitalise the local economy. Additionally, funding is provided to activities that support engagement or employment of creative workers, food and beverage operators and producers.
Penrith Producers will become a regular event in the Penrith night-time scene; with the two events each year. The first event was held in 2019, giving locals a taste of more than a dozen local food and beverage producers. With last year’s event unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions; the return of Penrith Producers in 2021 was much-anticipated and well-attended in a COVID-Safe manner.
