A new pathway on Nepean Avenue will improve safety and connectivity on Penrith’s Great River Walk.
Project scope: The new pedestrian pathway on the western side of Nepean Avenue, between Tench Reserve and Memorial Avenue, aims to address pedestrian safety issues and provide the missing link to the popular Bridge-to-Bridge loop. The project will also deliver effective design treatments, including new traffic-calming bands, to send visual and tactile cues to road users about appropriate speeds and behaviours, and create a safe environment for cyclists on the road.
Project benefits:
- Improved safety for pedestrians
- Increased accessibility
- Enhanced connectivity
- Enhanced liveability
Project funding: This project is proudly funded by the NSW Government in association with Penrith City Council. Council secured a $1.25 million grant under the Metropolitan Greenspace Program, and will match this funding with a further contribution allocated from the District Open Space Contributions Plan.
Project phase: Construction
