Penrith City Council will begin upgrades to playspaces across the City this month.

Playspaces on Armstein Crescent in Werrington, Brooker & Day Reserve in Colyton, Iron Bark Way in Colyton, Pauline Fields in Penrith, Penrose Crescent in South Penrith and Stapley Street in Kingswood will all be transformed with new play equipment, surface upgrades, additional seating, shade sails, tree planting and landscaping. Nindi Crescent in Glenmore Park will also receive an upgrade in July.

Penrith Mayor Tricia Hitchen said high quality public spaces are vital in bringing the community together.

“Playspaces are great for our mental health and provide the community with the ability to come together to be active and socialise. That’s why we’ve been working hard to upgrade playspaces across Penrith to make sure they are modern and inclusive for everyone,” Cr Hitchen said

“We’ve worked closely with the local community to develop the final designs for each playspace. This included seeking input on a range of themes to understand what style of playspace and types of equipment residents wanted to see in their local playspace.”

Six of the seven playspace upgrades are expected to be completed by mid-2022, with Nindi Crescent to be completed by August 2022.

Council is upgrading 40 playspaces over a five-year period between 2019-2024. Upgrades to 16 playspaces have already been delivered.

These playspaces were identified through Council’s Sport and Recreation Strategy which is a 15-year road map for the future provision of sport, play, recreation and open space facilities across our City.
