It’s no secret that 2020 has been a very difficult year and on the behalf of everyone at Council we hope that residents and our community can enjoy the festive season safely with family and friends.
Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM said, “What a year we’ve had, I’m very glad to see the Christmas decorations go up and the festive season unfold after such a challenging year.
“Council staff will be taking a well-earned break this holiday period after facing unprecedented changes and challenges in response to the pandemic.
“I’m very proud of the many programs that were delivered by Council this year and especially impressed with the COVID-19 response and recovery effort. Our teams were mobilised to reduce social isolation and deliver programs and services directly into our residents’ homes.
“Our Penrith Proud campaign continues to gain in momentum and is a good reminder to spend locally to keep jobs close to home.”
The Penrith Civic Centre and St Marys Council Office will be closed during the Christmas and New Year holiday period from midday 24 December 2020 to Sunday 3 January 2021, reopening on Monday 4 January 2021.
The customer service phone line will be open during this period for urgent or emergency calls only, including bin collection issues, dog attacks, Ranger requests and other pressing matters. Customers will also be able to report any non-urgent issues 24/7 via our new online services portal via penrith.city/onlineservices
Any customers who wish to book a bulky waste collection during the Christmas closure period must register via the online services portal, alternatively please contact Council when we reopen from Monday 4 January 2021
“On behalf of everyone at Council and all my Councillor colleagues, I extend the best wishes for the Christmas season and the New Year,” Cr McKeown said.
