Penrith City Council is encouraging residents to get up on their feet and out of their homes to take advantage of free personal training sessions.
Personal Trainers from Ripples Leisure Centre will visit several sites across the LGA, which all feature modern outdoor gyms installed by Council, to educate the Penrith community how to safely and effectively use the equipment.
The sessions will be held from 25 November to 10 December at the existing outdoor gyms at St Clair, Jordan Springs, Cranebrook and Werrington.
Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM said it is the perfect time for Penrith residents to take control of their health and well-being.
“It is no secret that 2020 has proven to be a challenging year for everyone, primarily due to the impacts of COVID-19, which has seen people of all ages spending more time indoors than ever before,” Cr McKeown said.
“However, as we move forward towards longer and warmer days, I am thrilled to see more members of our community keeping active - going for walks, running and bike rides along our many shared pathways.
“Council has delivered outdoor gyms in several suburbs however there are people in our community who might not know how to, or lack the confidence to, use these facilities.
“With Ripples now offering training sessions at no cost to attendees, I urge everyone to make the most of an opportunity to breathe in some fresh air and work towards a happier, healthier version of themselves in 2021.”
Each session will run for 45 minutes to an hour with a maximum of 10 people per class.
Trainers will guide participants through various exercises which incorporate strength and cardio-based equipment.
