Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown will officially open the redeveloped Barr & Bass Street Reserve with a community celebration on Friday 1 April 2016.
The community celebration will acknowledge the work of local students from Bennett Road Public School and Colyton Trade High School who were given the task of designing a playground for the Colyton community.
Cr McKeown said the playground looks fantastic and is sure to be a great meeting place for the community.
"I had the opportunity to give the playground its final inspection and I commend the students on their design and choice of equipment for Barr and Bass Reserve," Cr McKeown said.
"The transformation of the reserve is incredible; it's something the community will be very proud to make use of."
The upgrade includes a flying fox, climbing net, nest swing, bike track, BBQ, and picnic area. The community celebration will include family activities, face painting, jumping castle and a BBQ.
