A group of professional conference organisers looking for new and exciting venues will visit Penrith this month to see and experience what the city has to offer.
More than 20 people representing travel agencies and companies in Sydney will spend the day familiarising themselves with venues in Penrith including iFly, Muru Mittigar, Cables Wake Park and Luddenham Raceway and the Event Centre at Panthers.
This industry event known as a famil has been coordinated by The Conference Shop, a one-stop-shop destination marketing service specialising in conference venues and event supplies. Director Carla Offord said she's looking forward to bringing her clients to Penrith.
"Penrith has the urban facilities, but still has a distinct country feel. Even though it's only 50 mins from Sydney, you actually feel a lot further away and that's very attractive from a conference organiser's perspective," Carla said.
"Penrith also has a unique point of difference in that venues such as iFly, Cables Wakes Park and Luddenham Raceway can offer delegates a thrilling experience for team bonding activities, as well as state-of-the-art conference facilities."
Penrith City Mayor Councillor Ross Fowler said Council is proud to be supporting The Conference Shop to coordinate this famil and hopes the success of this upcoming visit will lead to many more conferences being booked in Penrith.
"Conferences can attract anywhere between 200- 300 people. These conference delegates stay here, eat at our restaurants and visit our attractions and this brings a significant financial boost to the city," Cr Fowler said.
"There's also an important flow-on effect with conferences; people who wouldn't normally visit our City, but have a good time while they are here, are likely to go home and tell their family and friends about it. Hopefully they'll all want to visit Penrith one day too."
After their full day and overnight stay in Penrith, the group will head to the Hawkesbury for another day of venue inspections before heading home. For further details about The Conference Shop, visit www.theconferenceshop.com.au.
