Council Annual Report wins Gold (again)

Council has received a Gold Award for our 2016-17 Annual Report in the prestigious Australasian Reporting Awards, announced on Wednesday 20 June in Sydney.

Council has received a Gold Award for our 2016-17 Annual Report in the prestigious Australasian Reporting Awards,announced on Wednesday 20 June in Sydney. This follows previous Gold Awards for our 2014-15 and 2015-16 Reports, and several Silver Awards.

The judges described our latest report as a very good and informative report for the Penrith community. They noted that it used simple language and was easy to follow and navigate.

"Performance measures are well presented using graphs with easy to understand explanations and case studies. It openly recognises the challenges in delivering services and identifies where performance targets have not been met and provides an outlook," they said.

"This is truly an open and accountable report with an emphasis on good governance and informing its constituents."

Penrith Mayor John Thain said that while reporting is a statutory requirement, Penrith Council works hard to report clearly and transparently, above and beyond requirements.

"We want to provide our community with a clear and comprehensive picture of all our activities, achievements, challenges and spending," he said.

"Council joined a number of other high-profile organisations from across Australia in receiving the Gold Award this year, including the ABC, Legal Aid NSW and NSW Ministry of Health," Cr Thain said.

"Council is continually improving the quality of our reporting, by listening to and talking with the community. It's great to have this kind of national recognition for excellence."
