Jamison Park’s new $4 million multi-use synthetic facility is complete and open for use.
The synthetic surface covers an area of 22,000 sqm and accommodates two FIFA standard rectangular football fields, a cricket pitch and an AFL oval. A new pathway and smart technology LED floodlights were also installed as part of the upgrade.
The project forms part of Council’s Sport and Recreation Strategy and was proudly funded by the NSW Government through the Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund in association with Penrith City Council and the Nepean Football Association.
Penrith City Council's spokesperson, Karen McKeown OAM, said the new facility has the potential to double the weekly capacity of the previous fields which will support the City’s increased demand for sports and recreation opportunities.
“Penrith sports clubs are expecting growth in member numbers into the future, so it is vital we provide the infrastructure to support these increasing participation rates,” said Ms McKeown.
“Sporting groups, schools and the wider community now have access to a high-quality facility which can be used year-round. Council would like to thank the NSW Government for its continued support on this project and the Nepean Football Association for its contribution and commitment.”
Further improvements will be delivered to Jamison Park in the new year in the form of spectator seating and landscaping to complement the facility.
Ms McKeown said these upgrades are another example of Council delivering on its commitment to give the community opportunities to enjoy an active lifestyle and create one of the state’s most liveable cities.
