As 2015 draws to a close, Iād like to wish you and your family a safe and happy Christmas.
2015 has been a year filled with challenges and achievements with Council leading many exciting projects. We continue to advocate for the region and are proud of securing vital infrastructure that will progress our city.
Penrith is a thriving regional city offering diverse jobs and services through health, education, hospitals, government services, recreation, entertainment and tourism. We are driving hard to attract investment into our city centre and we have established ourselves as the Adventure Capital of NSW with many interesting and exhilarating activities to take part in and have gained incredible recognition for the city.
Over the Christmas period Council is providing extra bin collections from 25 December to 7 January 2016. Bin collections go ahead even if the collection day falls on a public holiday. To ensure the collection of your bins please leave all of them at the kerbside the night before your normal collection day and leave them there until they are emptied.
We have also introduced two Recycling Drop Off Points for household recyclables.
The holiday period is a good time to slow down and relax with a good book. Council's Libraries will close at noon on Christmas Eve and re-open on Tuesday 29 December. (They will be closed on New Year's Day too.)
I look forward to seeing what 2016 brings as Council continues to serve the residents and businesses of Penrith.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family from everyone at Penrith City Council.
Cr Karen McKeown
Mayor of Penrith
