Penrith’s North Street car park is now open with 243 new car parking spaces close to the City Centre.
Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said Council is delivering more parking options for the community.
“The construction of the new North Street car park is an important step in Council’s plans to provide more parking in Penrith, close to businesses, transport and services,” Cr Fowler said.
“Plans for a new multi-deck car park at Soper Place are also progressing, with construction expected to begin in late 2019.
“Once complete, the two new car parks at Soper Place and North Street will increase the number of car parking spaces in the city centre by more than 800 spots.
“Our City Centre is evolving and it’s vital that we ensure people can access the businesses, services and attractions that make Penrith such a unique and vibrant place,” Cr Fowler said.
As part of the new works, a pedestrian ramp links the car park with Lemongrove Bridge giving easy access to nearby businesses at the top end of High Street and the station precinct.
North Street car park offers nine hour parking (9P) and is:
- Approximately three minutes to Penrith Court House via Henry Street
- Around eight minutes to TAFE Penrith via Soper Place
- Approximately five minutes to Service NSW via Evan Street
- A short walk to Penrith Station and Westfield
For easy entry and exit, there is a new roundabout at Henry and Doonmore Streets. The car park is solar powered and has been extensively landscaped to shade parked cars and help green and cool the City Centre.
