Special visit for a special cause

Seven children from Cook Parade Children’s Centre at St Clair made a special visit to the Council chambers on Thursday 4 April 2019.

Their visit was to present Council’s General Manager, Warwick Winn, with $695 raised by parents and children for the McGrath Foundation as part of Council’s fundraising drive.

Penrith Council has undertaken several fundraising activities for the McGrath Foundation primarily through staff morning teas, to support the work the foundation does in raising awareness and delivering front-line services to people affected by breast cancer.

“Seeing the kids from Cook Parade Children’s Centre get behind fundraising efforts for the McGrath Foundation really shows the impact that an organisation can have in the community,” Mr Winn said.

“We had a great time during their visit. They posed for photos in Council Chambers, I presented them with a certificate thanking them for their achievement and then we enjoyed morning tea with the Children’s Services Team.

“I think we enjoyed having them here as much as they enjoyed being here.

“People right across the organisation from the children and staff at our Childcare Centres, to the staff at the Depot, Libraries and Civic Centre have really embraced the opportunity to make a difference in the community for a cause that affects many of our loved ones,” Mr Winn said.

So far Penrith Council has raised over $2000 for the McGrath Foundation to place specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses to help those diagnosed with breast cancer.
