Support for local businesses announced

Penrith City Council is again stepping in to provide financial relief for cafes and restaurants in the Penrith and St Marys CBD’s that are currently facing economic hardship caused by the latest stay at home order.

Penrith Mayor Karen McKeown OAM said Council will provide relief to businesses who are again taking a ‘financial hit’ during the pandemic.

“Local businesses are the lifeblood of our cities and it’s important that Council is able to support them during this time,” Cr McKeown said.

“For the next 4 weeks, Council will be waiving footpath dining fees for cafes and restaurants that can now only provide take-away services.

“The hospitality sector feels the impact of the stay at home orders far more than most, as the community is instructed to not leave their homes except for essential shopping.

“These businesses are a vital part of our local economy and are collectively a big employer within our community.

“Council is unwavering in its support for local business as we look to ease the burden brought on by the restrictions,” Cr McKeown said.
