The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre (The Joan) is celebrating 25 amazing years.
Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said: "More than 6.5 million people of all ages have been a part of The Joan's magic over the past 25 years, either as audience members, class participants or performing on The Joan's stages.
"And there is no better way to celebrate the occasion than with The Joan's Gala Concert La Stupenda on 29 August, Councillor Fowler said.
"In what will be a night to remember, an array of Australian world class talent, will perform in a joyous concert of celebration."
Performers include The Song Company and one of Australia's most acclaimed and recognised pianists Tamara Cislowska. The singer 'touted as the next superstar of Opera' Amelia Farrugia is also performing.
"They will be joined on stage by the Acacia Quartet and one of Australia's most celebrated didgeridoo players William Barton. The evening will feature a world premiere by Australia's greatest living composer Elena Kats-Chernin.
"Penrith City Council is proud of our history with 'The Joan'. We have always supported and encouraged the arts and we will continue to do," he said.
"We are thrilled to be able to commission the work by Elena Kats-Chernin to be first performed for the people of Penrith.
"I encourage people to get in quick and book tickets to this fabulous night of celebration."
