Penrith residents have given Council a tick of approval and some valuable feedback in a recent community survey.
Earlier this year more than 600 households, randomly selected to represent an accurate cross section of the community, took part in the biennial survey.
Penrith Mayor Ross Fowler OAM said the survey provided valuable insight into areas for improvement as well as where residents felt Council was doing well.
"Council continues to score notably better than many other metropolitan Councils of similar size in terms of overall satisfaction, our services, their wellbeing and the 'feel' of the City," Councillor Fowler said.
"Residents also told us they value the community spirit, family friendly atmosphere, green spaces, parks and close proximity of sports grounds, shopping centres, entertainment, youth services and transport."
According to those surveyed, challenges for Penrith over the next 10 years include infrastructure and catering for a growing and diverse population along with urban sprawl, traffic flow and congestion.
"Council is committed to maintaining all the values our community holds dear while we meet the demands for increased population in Western Sydney," Cr Fowler said.
"We are already working with all levels of government to ensure Penrith gets the most out of the infrastructure spending for the airport at Badgerys Creek as well as long overdue road upgrades and better public transport services.
Cr Fowler said the community survey, which is held every two years, is one way Council keeps in touch with the community.
"We also recently announced we'll be appointing a Community Panel of 35 residents to inform Council's actions and decisions. The Panel will recommend ways to improve the work we do to put us in the best position for the Council and community to move into our shared bold future," Cr Fowler said.
