Our events:

Trees for Mum and Trees for Dad

Our beloved ‘Trees for Mum’ and ‘Trees for Dad’ events are our popular annual tree planting days that take place on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Participants come and plant a tree for or in memory of their mother, father, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, mother figure or father figure.

With locations rotated across Penrith, people can book in for a timeslot, stay for an average of half an hour, and plant a tree or two each on average. We have biodegradable tree tags where participants can write a message to the person they are planting for.

Registrations open at least one month prior.

Keep Mother's Day and Father's Day free and join us this year!

Large planting events like 'Planting for Platypus' and 'Creating Canopies'

We consider these our standard planting events. We run these regularly throughout the year and participants collectively plant a lot of plants. We sometimes partner with other organisations to deliver these.

We prep the area prior to the event and bring enough equipment along so we can focus on planting during the event time. Everyone will plant together and keep going until we get them all in. Each person may plant 30+ plants each, with overall plant numbers between 300 and 1,000!

Nature-themed and Citizen Science events

These events combine collecting valuable citizen science data and hard work with fun! Such events include ‘Breakfast with the Birds’, ‘Bee Bonanza’ and ‘Waterbugs’. These events usually include an activity that’s on theme with the event, such as participants at ‘Breakfast with the Birds’ participating in a bird survey to record which species we spot at the reserve, followed by a hands-on activity, like weeding, to help improve habitat for the birds.

Our ‘Fishing and Planting for a Healthy River’ 2025 event at Fowler Reserve, Wallacia was grant funded and run with event partner OzFish. Participants helped plant 300 native species into the recently reshaped bank to help with stabilisation and learned sustainable fishing techniques with an OzFish representative.
